Mitsubishi Evolution 6 RS

After a wonderful several years of Pajero Evolution ownership I found myself not using it too much. I often said that the Pajero was the car I loved owning and looking at but didn’t necessarily love driving it. I don’t have access to off road trails, or dirt trials so it became an ornament more than anything else. An additional force that ultimately enacted on my selling the Pajero was the return of Climb to the Clouds in 2026. I didn’t own my Evo II anymore and the market for selling the Pajero was strong. I had a parallel project happening with the M3 but it was many years away from being done and not suitable for Mt Washington. I got a thought in my head that wouldn’t go away; another Evo, this time updated and much less modified than the last. It had to be a 4/5/6 and it also had to be an RS because I wanted the mechanical diffs and I didn’t want to deal with eliminating the ABS. The RS also didn’t come with a sunroof or other add-ons that I had no interest in. After months of searching I found what would become my second Australian import, a 6 RS. The car was owned by a road racer who ran the car wheel to wheel in Eastern Australia. It took 3-4 months to arrive. After it did, I tore it down a little bit, replacing mostly hoses, fluids and rubber items in a quick attempt to get it out to an event before the season ended. This event was Okemo in VT, a fast hill climb on bumpy tarmac. The Evo was amazing, two runs were within 1 hundredth of a second from each other. Turn-key all weekend with minimal work and a class win on event 1. It couldn’t have gone better. Over the winter of ‘25/26 I dug deeper and started replacing and upgrading systems to build a reliable, group N type car that would compete in a low-modification category in 2026.
